Any Resources out There for BBQ Smoker Plans or Kits?
I receive countless questions about building your own BBQ smoker – just like this one:
In the near future, I’d love to build my own BBQ smoker. I was thinking of something like a brick smoker, but I don’t know really where to begin. Maybe a steel drum version would be best to start with, I’m not sure. Do you know any good plans out there to build your own, or can offer any pointers on what I can do?
It’s too funny, really, because I just wrote a blog post about the “Big Baby” DIY BBQ Smoker and the plans set out to build it “Do It Yourself-Style” in a book called “Real Barbecue” written by Greg Johnson and Vance Staten.
If you are in the market for a truly authentic BBQ smoker you can build yourself, for much, much less than the $5,000 or more the Pros will charge you to design one – the Big Baby is for you.
Check out the post I wrote on it, and you’ll see why. Alternatively, you could “Use the Force” and go with the Ugly Drum Smoker. (I think even Darth Vader uses a 55 gallon drum smoker version!)
