Swamp Boys BBQ and Git-R-Smoked Take GC and RGC at the 2012 FBA Triple Crown Event!
With a strong showing at the 2012 FBA Triple Crown BBQ Competition in Perry, FL – Rub Bagby of Swamp Boys BBQ and Terry McKay of Git-R-Smoked BBQ won Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion honors, respectively.

The 2012 FBA Triple Crown Series
The FBA 2012 Triple Crown Series is this weekend in Perry, FL, with as many as 39 Professional Competition BBQ Teams prepared to compete for this year’s top Florida Bar-B-Que Association Award.
Several of my good friends are in the top 10 qualifiers out of this group of nearly 40 teams, so I’m a bit torn as to who I’d like to see take home the 2012 FBA Triple Crown Grand Championship prize this year.

2012 FBA Triple Crown BBQ Competition Overview
The FBA Triple Crown Series is designed to encourage teams to actively compete in the three states served by FBA sanctioning and to reward the best scoring teams from within the FBA circuit. The Triple Crown qualifiers in each state are the FBA State Championship for that state for the current and previous two years.
Points at the Qualifiers DO count toward Team of the Year just as they would at any other FBA Sanctioned Contest. However, points at the Triple Crown Championship Invitational and Open DO NOT count toward Team of the Year.
2012 FBA Triple Crown BBQ Competition Qualifying Information
The 2012 FBA Triple Crown Series consists of nine FBA Sanctioned Contests, three per state, however the FBA reserves the right to substitute any FBA Sanctioned Contest in the event of a cancellation. Those contests are considered to be Qualifiers and the accumulated points won at those contests is going to be used to select the top 50 teams, who will be invited to the Triple Crown Championship.
BBQ Cook Teams must cook at least three qualifiers. If BBQ teams cook more than three, their three best scores will be used for placement. The 2011 FBA Triple Crown Grand Champion and the 2011 FBA Team of the Year are automatically qualified. Any BBQ cook team that has cooked at least ten FBA Sanctioned Contests, qualifiers or not, has also been automatically qualified. Prior to the contest, the head cook of each cook team must be an FBA member.
