Company Information:

Mandeo, LLC is a small business that was formed in 2008 with the idea to create a fuel/product with an environmental conscience. It originally focused on wood briquettes made of compressed sawdust and sold these for home heating. It later shifted its focus to BBQ when it came up with the concept to create a single-species BBQ wood brick. In 2010, the single species Mojobricks product was introduced for BBQ.

By the fall of 2011, the company began to manufacture Qubes for the gas or charcoal grill.  The new Qubes are much smaller than the original Mojobricks and are an alternative to wood chips and wood chunks. The Qubes come in Red Oak, Hickory, Maple, Apple, Cherry and the newest product is our Competition Blend wood for smoke flavor.  Mojobricks’ products for the back yard grill are fun, convenient and very efficient.

Why Mojobricks are Unique

Their product is unique because they use compressed wood made from saw dust, a bi-product of wood milling industries. It has no binders or chemicals. Mojobricks are bigger than other pellets and can be used in any grill (outdoors). Mojobricks burn much cleaner, which reduces particulate matter (PM10) by as much as 35% compared to firewood.  Because they are made with scrap, each time a ton is produced as many as a dozen trees remain in the forest.

When compared to its equivalent, Mojobricks in any form reduce the storage space that is needed by as much as 50%.  Mojobricks burn quietly and reduce creosote build-up.  A specific formula is used for the Qubes and this unique wood created for smoke flavor yields better, more flavorful results for any cook, amateur or professional.  Anyone can use Qubes. It’s fun, easy and requires no prep!

It’s Success

The success of the brand has steadily increased and is consistently growing.  Mojobricks was featured in the Wall Street Journal and on ABC’s Good Morning America and is mentioned in many forums and on BBQ radio shows. The popularity has increased amongst professional teams around the U.S.

Southern Krunk BBQ Society – Randy and his partner Andy are two guys who compete in the TV hit show PITMASTERS SERIES 3. Watch episode 5 where Andy and Randy go head-to-head with the competition while using cherry and other compressed Mojobricks.

Over the weekend of June 16th, 2012 several teams that competed with the new Qubes took home the gold. Kit Rudd of Deguello BBQ, whose hometown is Springfield, VA, took the top spot at Swinetastic in Frederick, MD. He cooks on a Weber smoky mountain and a backwoods smoker.  Kit uses Cherry Mojobricks Mojo-Qubes when he cooks along with a charcoal of his choice.

Another team at the top this weekend was Randy Hill of the Southern Krunk BBQ Society who competed in an ICBA event in Glenwood, Arkansas. http://twitter.com/royquapaw/status/214108446696554496/photo/1

Paul Huff of Gonehoggin.com and a resident of Bear, Delaware was the first to compete with the new competition blend. He used the combination blend for the first time and he did it at the Middletown BBQ Cook-Off Middletown, DE. Nothing like trusting your wood!  It turned out to be a great idea as he won the event and was immediately entered into the Jack Daniels and the American Royal this October.

Another first time user of cherry Mojobricks was Terry Threlkeld of Hunstville, TX. Terry bought the cherry bricks at the shop.mojobricks.com website and used one in competition as a first cook. He got a “call” taking first place in Brisket and a check for $3,500. Following that event he placed top 5 overall in the next 3 events he entered.
