Hi folks.  I received a request to put the word out about one of our brothers in ‘cue and a situation that we might be able to help him with.  Because he’d never ask for help himself, he’ll be referred to as “RL” in this post to protect his pride.  But hell, we’ve all needed a hand now and again, so if you can do anything to assist, I know he’d be both deeply humbled and grateful.

Peace Love BBQ

Here’s the text from the email I received from Mr. M. Pennell (@TexasPitmaster on Twitter).

(The last name and location withheld to protect his dignity.)

“RL…The Best ’Que Man Who Never Sold A Slab”

“RL” and his wife have been family friends since my pre-teen years as they would frequently visit my family in East Texas. Upon my graduation from High School, I attended college in the same city where “RL” and his family lived and I REALLY got to know him.

“RL” and his wife were both retail managers at the time…but along with being a great family man, he was a friend and mentor to many young men. His door was always open, and he often barbecued to keep fellas away from negative influences AND provide a meal for those of us didn’t or couldn’t cook.

During this period, his wife’s health failed…requiring him to opt for self-employment in order to better take care of her, which wasn’t an easy transition…but he made it work. Then his only daughter passed away…making him the primary caregiver for his 4 grand-daughters (one with severe health issues) as well as his wife.

He was able to eke out a living and STILL mentor young men until the recent economic downturn. He lost his home to foreclosure several months ago…and recently lost his truck,

leaving him with a hole in his pride and unable to make a living. We still have a few days to redeem the truck…and I’m calling on the “Que-Munity” to help me raise the $2500.00 to get the job done.

Any donation would be GREATLY appreciated…$1.00 and up. Donations can be sent via PayPal to LA.JazzBeau@Gmail.com.

THANKS !!
