BBQ Smoker Questions

BBQ BEEFEverytime I use my BBQ smoker to cook pork and beef, it comes out kind of hard, tough to chew. I marinade it beforehand, but not for long.

Should I be marinading it for longer, or is there something else I should do to soften up the meat before cooking it?

I’d really like to build a quality BBQ Grill and was wondering if you know of a good source for detailed plans?

This is a question that goes straight to every BBQ Smoker or Grill enthusiast, isn’t it?  I mean come on.  What could give you more pleasure than to turn out top notch smoked ribs, brisket, or whole BBQ hog for your family on a grill that you made yourself!
While there are plenty of plans out there to make your own BBQ smoker or build your own BBQ grill, you’ll want to choose carefully.  Size and materials will obviously come into play where your location and budget are concerned.  Read up as much as you can, and choose wisely.

BBQ Smoker Plans from Compuvices.com

A lot of the members of our BBQ Smoker Site community find Amazon.com to be a great source of books on the subject of BBQ Smokers and the like.  You can read up on some of the more popular purchases on Amazon by folks who read this blog.  I’d also like to point you over to some work done by Garell York at Compuvices.com.  I like this guy’s site.  And, he presents plans for a FREE Build it Yourself Barbecue Smoker – so hey – what’s not to like.

I also really like his dedication to God and Country.  So – read up on these plans and see if they’ll work for you.  All construction is done at your own risk – so don’t come running to me or Garell if things go poorly.  Just read his plans and you’ll be in good shape.
