Carolina Sunshine Wing Sauce a la Team Unknown BBQ
Hey everybody, thanks for checking out this post on Carolina Sunshine Wing Sauce. I was invited over to JW’s house to do a Team Unknown taste test of this and a few of the other Carolina Sunshine sauces put out by our good friend Mr. George Foley.
First off, I want to be sure everyone knows that Lee Pointer made me put the phrase “a la” in the title of this post. It’s on him. Send him your jabs and comments via Twitter right here.
Before we get started, I know many of you are tomato-based BBQ Sauce fans, and it’s true that we don’t see Carolina style BBQ Sauce in competition. However, I am here to say that chopped pork with Carolina style sauce, red slaw, and hush puppies is my hands down favorite!
Before we get started, check out this video our buddy Daryl Mast made with George…
And now for the Carolina Sunshine Wing Sauce Results!
I’ll start by saying that JW said he tried this sauce on wings and instantly loved it. We cooked up some wings to test it out and everyone in our little group agreed! Well, except for Ms. Bridgette… she wasn’t too jazzed about the vinegar base – and as most of you know, she’s not one to pull punches with her commentary!
The taste profile of the Carolina Sunshine Wing Sauce is much different from others I’ve tried. It’s definitely not your typical “Buffalo Style” sauce. It has a nice balance of “Sweet and Hot” (but not too hot), with a very mild heat that feels more ‘warm’ than hot.
Though this sauce is made for wings, I can easily see it as a glaze for grilled seafood, pork chops, and the like.
If you’re looking for a new wing sauce to try, Carolina Sunshine Wing Sauce definitely gets the Team Unknown BBQ seal of approval!
