He’s a BBQ smoker mystery wrapped up in a Texas Crutch foil wrap, smoked to perfection with a voice hails from deep within the hills and hollars of Central Florida. 1st place FBA brisket smoked on his trusty custom built BBQ smoker is his claim to fame, but he’s never one to turn down a fresh steamin’ plate of possum sushi.
He is… Dorsey Odell. BBQ Smoker and Late Night Toker of the now infamous Team Unknown.
Dorsey comes from a family of plumbers, HVAC experts, metal fabrication wizards, and guitar slayers. Known to channel simultaneously the spirits of Hank Williams, Sr., Johnny Cash, and the still very much alive Willie Nelson, Dorsey is always quick to rustle up a tune to keep a Friday night competition cook lively.
I’d like to present here, for your viewing and listening pleasure, two of the songs Dorsey does particularly well. The first, is a tribute to the Florida Bar-B-Que Association and its general belief, on the whole – and with considerable truth based on the number of nationally ranked BBQ teams it boasts – that it’s the best damned professional BBQ association in the land.
The second tune is one that speaks to Dorsey Odell’s ability to embrace country music tradition while paying tribute to some of its more “outsider” or “outlaw” forces.
Enjoy these folks, and know this… Where there’s smoke – there’s fire. Where there’s fire – you’ll likely find Dorsey holdin’ the damn match.

I’m writing this post to request that all of our readers consider giving anything they can to help support John and Stacy Lynch of Cripple Creek Barbeque and their dream of one day rolling through Colorado in an honest to goodness BBQ Food Truck. Folks… Cripple Creek Barbeque is on a mission from God. I truly believe this.
Not only do John and Stacy make one hell of a BBQ Sauce and some tasty rub blends, but they are all about supporting the “Slow Food” movement – doing things in organic and sustainable ways. As a testament t this face, just yesterday while on the chat for Greg Rempe’s BBQ Central Radio Show, John told us he recently got his current restaurant employer to move away from CAB burgers and switch to grass fed beef instead. He says the flavor is so much better, and having recently tried my hand at a batch of grass fed beef hamburgers, I have to agree.

John and Stacy have a Kickstarter campaign that is soon coming to an end. They’ve raised an amazing $6,235 from only 80 backers, but are still way short of the $12,000 they need to get their food truck rolling. They have 16 days left and no money is pledged in “real dollars” unless their total goal is met.
So – I invite you all to read up on what John and Stacy Lynch at Cripple Creek Barbeque are up to. Then, if your budget allows, I ask you to consider throwing a few shekels into the Cripple Creek Barbeque Paypal Account. If you pledged an amount on Kickstarter and the deadline comes and goes, please consider donating that amount directly to them.
